20,000 sq ft Commercial CAT A Delivery

CompassEP completed the CAT A electrical installation for a 20,000 sq ft commercial space at the Battersea Park development (ground floor and basement levels). Following successful delivery of the base-build infrastructure, we have been retained to continue supporting the next phase of the project, maintaining our long-standing working relationship with Albany Interiors.

Project snapshot

  • Location: Battersea Park area, London

  • Area: 20,000 sq ft

  • Space: Ground & Lower Ground Floors

  • Delivery: CAT A completed; ongoing involvement supporting the fit-out phase

The brief

Commercial developments of this size and configuration require CAT A building services that are robust, well-documented, and designed to integrate seamlessly with a future fit-out.

That means:

  • Clear distribution logic

  • Practical & Sufficient containment and routing

  • Fully compliant emergency and fire systems

  • A handover standard that supports smooth progression into the next phase

Following CAT A completion, maintaining continuity into the fit-out stage required careful sequencing with parallel trades, disciplined change control, and close coordination to protect programme momentum.

What we delivered – CAT A scope

CompassEP delivered the full CAT A electrical package, establishing the base-build infrastructure across both levels:

  • Mains LV infrastructure

  • LV distribution

  • Small power

  • Lighting

  • Emergency lighting

  • Fire alarm

This CAT A foundation was designed to support efficient fit-out progression, reduce downstream clashes, and simplify commissioning and handover requirements.

Continuity into the fit-out phase

Retaining involvement beyond CAT A creates measurable value for clients and project teams.

Reduced interface risk

The same delivery team that installed the base-build infrastructure understands the routing, distribution intent, constraints, and documentation baseline. This reduces misinterpretation and helps avoid rework during subsequent phases.

Faster, cleaner mobilisation

Continuity of knowledge allows coordination, logistics, and sequencing to move more efficiently particularly across multi-level spaces where access, containment, and staging require tight control.

Stronger commissioning and handover outcomes

When CAT A is delivered with downstream integration in mind, later-stage commissioning becomes more predictable. Clear documentation, consistent labelling, and disciplined snag closure improve the overall handover experience.

Single point of accountability

Clients benefit when one contractor maintains responsibility across phases, simplifying decision-making and reducing the risk of scope gaps between packages.

Delivery approach

On phased commercial projects, delivery quality is often determined by executing the fundamentals consistently and well:

  • Coordination discipline: Sequencing works around parallel trades to protect programme and reduce site congestion

  • Quality control: Consistent installation standards, visible snag management, and progressive sign-off

  • Documentation standards: Clear as-built records and structured handover packs suitable for modern commercial environments

  • Discretion by default: Controlled information flow, need-to-know communication, and careful handling of sensitive tenant requirements

This approach supports predictable delivery in environments where reliability and confidentiality are as important as technical competence.

Outcome

The Battersea Park project demonstrates CompassEP’s ability to deliver high-quality CAT A infrastructure on a sizeable commercial footprint spanning ground and basement levels — and to retain client trust into the next phase of delivery.

It is a strong example of how CompassEP supports clients through phased commercial projects: establishing a solid CAT A platform and maintaining continuity as the development progresses.
